Laurence Butler

I met up with Laurence in DTLA on a Saturday morning for our first portrait session together. Being the self-proclaimed king of sneaker-heads, he was sporting some serious footwear so I did my best not to put them through too much distress. But we definitely put the miles in, shooting all over Downtown and ending up in the Arts District for some end-of-day drinks. Okay, one shoe got scuffed (and we had that tiny incident involving a Bird scooter—he’s fine, but holy sh*t) but I truly believe the photos we made are proof that it was worth it.

We shot a full thirty-six frames of Kodak Portra 800 loaded in the Nikon F3. The greens and reds really pop with this film, and it’s quickly becoming my go-to film stock for portraits and landscapes.
